Interested in following along with Emma Rose's author journey? Sign up for her newsletter, which she sends out once a month.
A typical newsletter includes an article (an update on what Emma Rose has been doing, a thought about Christian art, or anything else relevant to her audience) followed by three story recommendations: something old, something new, and something free.
Something old: In his essay "On Reading Old Books," C. S. Lewis suggested reading two old books for every one new book you read. Emma Rose loves the classics and thinks you should, too. Her "old book" pick tends to be a classic she's recently enjoyed or discovered, ranging from the 15th to early 19th century. (George MacDonald, anyone?)
Something new: Old books are great, but there are also many excellent books being released nowadays that deserve our attention. Check out new or recent releases that are well-written, impactful, and enjoyable for fans of well-written Christian speculative fiction.
Something free: As much as all of us wish for an unlimited book purchase fund, sometimes buying books simply isn't in the budget. That's why each newsletter includes at least one thing you can read for free, no credit card required. Looking for low-impact reading material? This is the place to get it!
Past recommendations include The Book of the Dun Cow by Walter Wangerin Jr. (new), The Princess and the Goblin by George MacDonald (old), and Extension Squad vol. 1 by R. M. Scheller (free—here's the link).
